POP CRIME: Private show 6 Aug 2009

Opus is proud to present an exhibition of new paintings by internationally acclaimed graffiti artists CRASH and SHEONE, showing in Newcastle for the first time!

POP CRIME

Crash, aka John Matos, was born in New York’s Bronx. As part of the city’s prolific graffiti movement, Crash was discovered through the murals that he painted on subway cars, basketball courts, and walls of New York buildings.

James Choules, who adopts the alter-ego of SHEONE, is a London based artist with a unique brand of abstract painting that is rooted deep in the new wave graffiti era of early eighties New York. However, his trademark strokes and bold expressive approach to image making put him firmly in the present. ReFill Magazine to refer to him as ‘a leading cultural artist’.
